About Us
By profession, Barb is in the human resources field. By choice, she's a dog show nut, crediting her great uncle, William Kell, for her love of competition. He was the only one in the family who truly understood why Barb's yearning to show dogs, as he raised and showed National Championship caliber pigeons. Barb fell in love with Afghan Hounds when she was 12 years old, seeing her first at the then-benched Harrisburg Kennel Club dog show. She never did succeed in convincing her parents to get her one for a pet, but upon high school graduation, an Afghan Hound was the first thing she bought with her own money. The family favored getting a "useful" dog; i.e. a hunting dog of some sort, but Barb was hooked on Afghans. Having found that Afs are like potato chips, "you can't have just one...", Barb recognized they do better in pairs. Her involvement in Afghan Hounds can be traced from that first pair- Aleia and Geisha. By profession, Dave is in the communications field. Dave's family had English Springer Spaniels while he was growing up. His first Springer Casey was also his first hunting dog. Dave and his brothers took Casey hunting timberdoodles (woodcock) in the wilds of New Jersey. After moving to Pennsylvania, Dave acquired A Casey's Fine Irish Wine, aka Meade. She was an incredible pheasant and quail dog, and they spent many happy days afield together.
